Yushchenko reschedules snap parliamentary elections for 2009

President urges to review draft budget-2009, launch work of stabilization fund immediately

Separatism will be punished - Security Service
Separatist organizations in Ukraine do not pose a serious threat to the national security, acting chief of the security service Valentyn Nalyvaichenko told the securities' board meeting in Donetsk Thursday. President Viktor Yushchenko says a forceful scenario of resolving the political crisis is impossible, he said in Zhytomyr. Ukrainian metallurgy challenges global crisis with vacations and repairs
Metallurgical companies of Donetsk region that are the support of the local budget were put on a slow run: 6 of 21 blast furnaces were shut down for repairs, which immediately told on the output of steel. The Kyiv International institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted an opinion poll finding 40% of Ukrainians afraid of the country's split. KIIS asked the respondents to name three main threats for Ukraine for the nearest year. Verkhovna Rada amends state budget

Government forecasts deflation in July
The Cabinet of Ministers has forecast deflation of 0.5% in the third quarter of 2008, taking into account deflation of 0.4% in July, deflation of 0.3% in August and inflation of 0.2% in September. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko made the forecast on Saturday, July 12. The Ukrainian government counts on an inflation rate of 0.9% in the fourth quarter of 2008 given inflation of 0.4% in October, 0.2% in November and 0.3% in December.
